Day trip riding around in the Truly Nolen Mousecar

The Motley Crew

(giggle) [laughter] (stomach aches)

Thats how this day went. Five of us where chosen to participate and bring a guest to parade around in the Truly Nolen mousecars. 10 of us total. Each person had their own Truly Nolen drivers. My driver was Ray. Full of information about all the services that Truly Nolen offers. Being a home owner, I had loads of questions.

The day started off by the girls, Carolyn, Tracy and Christina meeting at my house. The drive there, was an adventure in itself. Getting to the Truly Nolen Hallendale location we saw all of the cars lined up and waiting for us. Our trusty leader, Toby, gave us the run down of the plans, gave us our goodies and introduced everyone. There was 10 of us, @bachinaminuet, @vicequeenmaria, @twittgoddess, @emilyontheave, @miamishines, @fsutoby (our fearless leader @tilsonpr), @jarret23, Next we each picked our driver. Ray was my driver. We all got in our cars and headed out. Tweeting away with the hashtag #mousecarparade.

A tarantula crawling up my arm

First we headed down A1A. That was a lot of fun. We definitely caused a ruckus.  We had heads turn, people say outloud “whats going on” and stop what they are doing to see us drive by. It was certainly a glorious morning so the beach was already packed. Next on the list was to head over to the Museum of Science and Discovery. It can also be a playground for adults. I haven’t been to the science side in quite a few years. Emily wanted to be able to touch a tarantula and Toby was able to do one better and let her hold one and allow it to crawl around her arm. I decided that since I’m afraid of spiders this was a good chance to go for it. I petted it and it wasn’t what I was expected. I decided to also take hold of it but as soon as it was making its way up my arm, I screamed like a little girl for someone to get it off. Hey, I did pretty good for it. I still prefer sharks. We also got to see horseshoe crabs mating, baby alligators and lizards. After playing and getting a bunch of fantastic goodies, we were headed over to our next stop.

Its the cheesiest!!!

Pizza Fusion was next on the hit list for the mousecarparade. We were definitely a hungry bunch. We’ve worked up quite an appetite. We had the chance to try all sorts of pizzas. They are quite unique as everything is fresh and organic. I’m not a vegetarian or even eat that many things organic but this pizza is in my top 3 pizza places here. They certainly did a great job in feeding this hungry crew of passengers and drivers. Not one slice was left uneaten. We got a lot of great goodies. I especially loved the shirt and Jarrett even got a jacket. One funny thing happen tho. An Orkin car parked BETWEEN 2 mousecars and came in to eat. Totally unplanned and quite a funny pic. After stuffing ourselves and even feeding our mousecars… what, they like cheese! We set off to our next  and final stop.

Isnt she the prettiest!

After a nice leisurely drive, we arrive to Butterfly World. I was especially excited to visit here as its been well over 20 years since I’ve been there. We were able to get an education segment from Barry the Bug Guy. The best moment was when he was chasing Christina around with a hissing cockroach. Better her than I. None the less it provided free entertainment with her screaming. Boys will be boys. We also got to see them feed the venomous centipede and a tarantula. That was quite a site.  I even had a chance to play with a butterfly. That was probably the highlight of my day. I’ve always wanted to have a butterfly but they always fly away from me. This was so beautiful. They had so many different and exotic species. I was quite impressed with everything they had to offer. Plus can’t forget that I had the pleasure of seeing 2 butterflies getting it on as well as some grasshoppers. HAHA.

The saddest part of the whole day was that it had to end. It was such a great day. I got to meet new people , make new friends and it was even educational. Hopefully this helped get the word out that Truly Nolen is still around and holding strong. Thanks guys for everything. I can now check that off my list of things to do: Riding in a Mousecar.

(Thank you to Blanca of Social Media ConsultingJarrett, Toby and Emily for sharing their photos)
